Arrival Havana in a cargo plane.the plane an old soviet submarine spotter converted to cargo. I realized once onboard that our plane was not a regular plane but had few windows and cargo nets. I was grateful there was no livestock on board.
The plane literally bounce off the runway as it landed! It is pouring out and we had to wait a 1/2 hour for a bus to the terminal.
After avoiding overcharging for a cab, We take what seems like a long ride from the airport to the Nacional. We have executive check in on the 6th floor which makes it easier. However, the hotel is totally booked and our room which while large is not to my liking. Room 649 faces both the city and the water. I like it when it faces El Morror --the castle
We unpack and of course head right away to the outdoor veranda bar. We settle in with a few for Sarah are weak drinks. All of a sudden a large gust of wind blew chair everywhere. We retreated to the inside bar where the drinks were better.
I went to the telephone operator and place a call to Mikey our friend and driver. He started singing Beny More and is coming by tomorrow to come get us.
